Solution

To amend the expenses and income opening balance when it is dimmed:
  1. Open UBS Accounting.
  2. Go to Housekeeping, click Setup, click General Setup and edit the starting period to anything other than 1.
  3. Go to General, click Enter Opening Balance and amend the amount.
  4. Go to Housekeeping, click Setup, click General Setup and change the starting period back to 1.
